I have learned over the past almost 30 years of working with adoptive and foster families, coupled with my personal experience, that support is so important for parents walking this journey.
Community is key for everyone in the adoption triad.
Adoption and foster care can be both beautiful and hard—
and it’s okay to say that. It can bring so much love and joy, but it can also come with real challenges and tough emotions.
Holding space for both is part of honoring the whole story.
A fresh set of eyes and ears on a situation can be life-giving.
I've seen it over and over. I look forward to supporting you on your parenting journey.
I went to school to be a social worker because I wanted to work in adoptions.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Human Services from
California State University, Fullerton.
I went on to complete my Master's in Social Work degree in 1995 from California State University, Long Beach.
I became a
TBRI® Practitioner in 2024, (although I have been teaching and using the principles for many years prior!).
I am a lifelong learner! I love taking classes, reading books, and learning from adult adoptees and adoption/foster care professionals.
My early work experience was in foster care, but I quickly moved into working in international adoptions in 1996. After several years, we moved to Central California, where I spent the next season focused on our family.
In 2009, I started working in international adoptions again where my role expanded from being a direct service social worker to developing pre- and post- placement virtual support programs for families across the nation (and really worldwide!) to creating educational trainings for adoptive families.
In Spring 2025, I decided to pursue supporting families through Anchoring Families.
I have been married for almost 34 years, and my husband is a pastor. We have six children through birth and adoption.
Two of our daughters came to our family through adoption from China (both were under one year old). In 2020, we decided to pursue adopting an older boy from Vietnam; he joined our family in March 2023 just two weeks before his 14th birthday.
Our kids range in age from 14 to 28 years old. We have been through all of the ages and stages of parenting (and survived - so far!).
We have been incredibly blessed to parent all of our amazing kids no matter how they came to our family!
